2018 Coaches on the Hot Seat

A list of head coaches who are or should be on the hot seat entering the 2018-19 season.  It will not surprise me if one or two schools make a change before the start of the 2018-19 season.  Schools will be added.  Generally coaches are listed if they haven't averaged 12 wins in their first four years as head coach.  Or who's record are going on a downward trend.  Usually coaches listed have been at their school for at least four years, though there maybe an exception every so often.  Coaches are listed regardless of their contract status.

2017-18 record-4-26

Update-Resigned on March 16, 2018

San Jose St. 5 years 57-97.

2017-18 record 7-23.

Was given an extension after three years (39-53 record) until the 2020-21 season.   Within a couple years the AD was reassigned to a fundraiser position within the athletics department.  His new job is to raise enough money to get the football endzone project, known as the Walsh-Vermeil Complex, completed.  The project was approved back in 2013, but San Jose St. still hasn't raised enough money to start construction.

Will the new AD, who was part of the athletic administration when the extension was signed, be willing to buy out any of the remaining three years?  The worst job in the Mt. West Conference in terms of facilities, funding, and support.

Utah St. 6 years  78-108

2017-18 7-23

Only two winning seasons. Best season was his first year, 2012-13, with 18-14 record.  Other winning season, 2016-17, went 17-15.  Also, two of his three assistant coaches were male.  The female AC left during the 2017-18 season, she was no longer listed on the roster, but no press release.

Yet, somehow the Utah St. AD gave him an extension on March 6, 2017, until 2019-20 season.

Valparaiso 6 years 56-129

2017-18 record 13-18 with conf tourney left.

Now in a tougher conference, the Missouri Valley Conference, will Valpo seek a new head coach?
