Best Turnaround for First Year Head Coaches- 2017-18

The list of the best turnarounds, measured in wins, for head coaches hired for the 2017-18 season.  First year head coach, for this list, is defined as a head coach who spent the 2017-18 season as the new head coach for that school.  This is not the Maggie Dixon Award which honors the best rookie head coach-somebody who got their first head coaching job!  Named after the great Maggie Dixon!

The 2017-18 season saw 40 schools with new head coaches.  These first year head coaches had the best turnaround seasons.

Current as of March 9, 2018.  A few schools may/will make the WNIT or NCAA, so there could be changes.

1. Denver and Miami (OH) +10
2. FAU and UTEP +9
3. Nevada +8
4. Lafayette +7
5. Davidson, Illinois St., and USC +6

Honorable Mention- Cal St. Fullerton +4, which includes more than tripling the number of D1 wins, 2 to 7.

Morgan St. had a 7 game turnaround, but technically the 2017-18 was the second year for the head coach.  He was the interim HC in 2016-17 and named permanent HC in 2017.

Corrections

March 10, 2018

Grand Canyon-had the wrong 2016-17 record, which meant a wrong turnaround total.
